The Sage job took a little more time to understand and given the many facets of the game available during the preview, only the barest of tests were conducted on the job in the interest of time. Of the two classes, the Reaper was easier to pick up immediately thanks to its focus on damage, with almost every button feeling like it either dealt damage or put its user in the position to deal even more. Naturally, many fans will have questions about the two of Endwalker’s new jobs: the Reaper and the Sage. During an extensive hands-on preview event attended by Screen Rant, we were able to play as several different jobs and experience some of Endwalker’s new locations and content.

With such historical status already guaranteed for Endwalker, there's a lot on the line in terms of delivering, not just on narrative but on gameplay, too. While the incredible success of the game means it will continue on past Endwalker, the story that began in 2013’s A Realm Reborn will finally wrap up and players will soon after be thrown into another grand epic of fantasy.

Endwalker, which releases on November 23, 2021, will mark the end of a decade's worth of storytelling. For a game that's had no issues creating a world in which a gaudy casino and the depressed robots from NieR can co-exist, the next Final Fantasy XIV expansion represents a unique instance for the long-running MMORPG.
